Marvin Lewis Contract Extended

The Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to extend the contract of Head Coach Marvin Lewis through the 2014 NFL season.  Lewis who has coached the Bengals to 6 winning seasons and three playoff appearances in his nine year tenure in Cincinnati

Lewis who insisted on having more personnel control after his last contract negotiations has led the Bengals back to football prominence.  The drafting of A.J. Green and Andy Dalton last season sky rocketed the Bengals in to contention in a very difficult AFC North.  Many experts have predicted the Bengals are a team on the rise, but I’m not so sure.  The Bengals are a much better team than they were 3 years ago.  Gone is the idea that you need an arrest record to play in Cincinnati, however, looking at their schedule from last year, I’m not ready to crown them yet.

The Bengals played 6 games last season against teams with winning records, and they lost all six games.  All nine wins game against lower caliber NFL opponents.  The Bengals are working their way up the NFL ladder, but they are not their yet.  Don’t be surprised to see them stumble and fall down the mountain a bit.
