Broncos Respect the Vets : Sign Brooking and Leonhard

The Denver Broncos are serious about making a run deep into the playoffs and possibly the Super Bowl this year.  They added veteran talent on offense with the additions of Peyton Manning and Brandon Stokley, and now they’ve done it on defense.

The Broncos added former Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboy linebacker Keith Brookings on Monday.  Brookings who recorded 3 starts and played in all 16 games for Dallas registering 50 tackles last season, likely will step in as the starting middle linebacker in Denver, pushing Joe Mays back on the depth chart.

Along with Brookings, Denver has also added veteran depth in the secondary (again).  On Sunday the Broncos added former Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets free saftey Jim Leonhard.  Leonhard has struggled with injuries the last few years, but when healthy has a great nose for the ball and can develop younger secondary players the Broncos are currently collecting at the safety position.

Fantasy Football Impact:

The two signings of Brookings and Leonhard do not really impact the fantasy landscape for D/ST drafting, however.  Adding a quality pass defending middle linebacker and a veteran safety who, hopefully, will be able to develop some of the more aggressive younger talent.  If both of these things happen, Peyton Manning and Co. will be on the field a lot more than expected, this can jump the fantasy draft value of all involed up a round or two.  Top players in Fantasy for Denver will be Peyton Manning, Eric Decker, Demaryious Thomas, Willis McGahee, Joel Dreessen, Jacob Tamme.  In that order.
